Fox is the latest broadcaster to unveil its schedule for the 2017-18 TV season, and herewith is the major headline: Cookie is moving into TV’s family hour.
This fall, Empire will move into Wednesday’s lead-off position (from 9 pm, where it’s been since launching three seasons ago). Quasi-companion series Star will follow Empire at 9 pm.
Also of note: Fox is creating a DC Comics/Marvel mashup on Mondays, pairing new X-Men-esque drama The Gifted with Lucifer; Lethal Weapon is being relocated to Tuesdays-at-8, where it will lead into The Mick and Brooklyn Nine-Nine; Gotham is shifting to Thursdays-at-8 alongside Seth MacFarlane’s new live-action series The Orville; and New Girl‘s seventh and final season is being held until midseason.
Joining New Girl at midseason is the previously announced return of The X-Files as well as new series THE RESIDENT, 9-1-1 and LA TO VEGAS.
All told, the Fox schedule looks like this; new shows are in CAPS, click for details.
Fox has put up the bat signal yet again and renewed Gotham for a fourth season, via TVLine has learned.
Gotham this season has averaged 3.5 million total viewers and a 1.1 demo rating, down 15 and 20 percent from its sophomore run but on par with Monday-night companion Lucifer, which scored a renewal almost three months ago.
Gotham‘s Season 3 two-hour finale airs Monday, June 5, at 8/7c.

While critics fear super fatigue in Hollywood, there are films like last year’s Deadpool, which broke the mold and any expectations for what a superhero movie could be. And with development for Deadpool 2 only continuing through the months, fans are left wondering where their favorite characters will go in the sequel. This includes Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa, who was a tough as nails damsel in distress during the original.
I had the opportunity to speak with Morena Baccarin during last night’s Gotham Press Event in New York City, where I asked the actress where she’d like her character to go in Deadpool 2. She said,
“I would love to see the evolution of [Copycat], and how she becomes that. I also think it’s very interesting to see the relationship with her and Wade after the whole thing. His whole demeanor changing. And just how they continue their relationship.”
Morena Baccarin has joined the voice cast of Elliot: The Littlest Reindeer.
The former Homeland star will play Corkie, a intrepid journalist determined to get the scoop on Santa’s North Pole tryouts in the animated Christmas underdog tale. Baccarin joins Josh Hutcherson, Samantha Bee, John Cleese and Martin Short in the pic from Awesometown Entertainment, which is being shopped at the European Film Market in Berlin by Double Dutch International.
The film finds Santa Claus reindeer Blitzen announcing his retirement on Dec. 21, giving Elliot, a miniature horse, just three days during North Pole tryouts to fulfill his lifelong dream to earn a spot on the legendary Christmas sleigh ride. “I really enjoyed the story,” said Baccarin, “the idea that with enough perseverance and team spirit you can change the expected and surpass the norm. And it’s always a plus to be in something your kids can watch!”
Elliot is being produced by Lucas Lynette-Krech, and was written and is being directed by Jennifer Westcott. Executive producer credits are shared by Dan Krech, Victoria Westcott, Mike Sears, Michael Emerson and Moring.
Baccarin earned an Emmy nomination for her performance in Homeland, on which she starred for the drama’s first three seasons. Her credits also include Gotham, Deadpool, Firefly and V.
Baccarin is repped by UTA and Seven Summits Pictures and Management. Elliot is the first project from a deal between DDI And Awesometown to co-produce two to three animated features annually budgeted in the $10 million-$15 million range.
