Apologies for the lack of updates lately. There’s just not been a lot of Morena news, but I have some today. The Comic Con Showtime panel was earlier today, and I have photos for you. I am about to head on a short trip, but I should have more of them (and hopefully a video or some articles about the panel) to share with you by the end of the weekend.

SHOWTIME has announced its panel line-up for the 2011 Comic-Con which will feature stars from some of the network’s biggest original series. This year’s panel will include the Emmy(R)-nominated series DEXTER, as well as the new hit series SHAMELESS. Additionally, SHOWTIME will premiere an exclusive first-look trailer of its new drama series HOMELAND starring Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Morena Baccarin. The SHOWTIME panel will be presented on the first day of the world-famous gathering in San Diego on Thursday, July 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Ballroom 20. The SHOWTIME panel will include:

This fall, the war on terror comes home in the new Showtime original series Homeland from executive producers/writers Howard Gordon (24, The X-Files) and Alex Gansa (24) starring Claire Danes (Terminator 3), Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers, Life), Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride, Criminal Minds) and Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly). Comic-Con favorite Baccarin will make a special appearance to introduce the exclusive trailer from Homeland.

Morena tweeted earlier that she will be attending this year’s San Diego Comic Con to promote her new series, Homeland.

No word yet on when the panel will be, but the convention itself takes place July 21-24. I will post updates when I find out more!

Today (June 2), Morena celebrated her birthday! Here’s to hoping it was a good day for her. Fun fact, today is also Firefly co-star Jewel Staite’s birthday. Happy birthday to them both.

Due to filming for her new series, Morena will be unable to attend the Supanova Sydney and Perth conventions later this month. She apologized on via Twitter:

Sadly I can’t make it to Australia this month. Start shooting in a couple of weeks. Make it up to you by being on a great show! Deal?

Supanova has confirmed her cancellation on their website.

Very exciting news for you all today! Morena has a new series lined up.

Just two weeks after ABC canceled cult favorite V, the show’s breakout alien Morena Baccarin has joined another drama series, Showtime’s Homeland.

The upcoming thriller, from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, centers on Marine Sergeant Scott Brody (Damian Lewis), who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a driven CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. Baccarin co-stars as Jessica Brody, Scott’s smart, strong wife. She replaces Laura Fraser who played the role in the pilot.
